Continuing Ed: Leadership for Women in Public Safety Organizations
United States
This 8-hour course, designed specifically for women in public safety leadership roles, will focus on challenges facing women in a male dominated industry. It will examine various leadership theories and styles, and public and private sector leadership. The course will also examine contemporary and historical female leaders, self-reflection in determining personal leadership styles, traditionally “masculine” and “feminine” leadership attributes, and practice in using leadership skills in work-centered scenarios.
This course will also provide a complete self-assessment evaluation tool to determine your leadership style. The more an individual knows about her individual leadership style, the more she can develop important skills to use this style to her advantage when leading a team in the public safety sector. The class will look at a “problem” within a public safety organization and develop strategies to mitigate the problem, while continuing to develop a strong team relationship with her co-workers.
