- Human Resources will notify Facilities of a person with confirmed or suspected COVID-19 (Following Scenario A or B in the Student/Employee Guidance for Illness & Exposure spreadsheet).
- Identify rooms where prolonged exposure occurred; identify rooms/areas that may have had short exposure
- Rooms where prolonged exposure occurred:
- Close room and shutdown associated AHU for 24hrs.
- All occupants in the room and an areas associated with the zone’s AHU must exit the area.
- Facilities Engineer to purge air associated with the AHU in that zone for 24hrs.
- After the 24hr period, WFF to conduct cleaning with necessary PPE (includes gowns). Cleaning time will be dependent on the size of the space.
- Temporarily turn off HVAC system that services the room or space, so that particles that escape from vacuuming will not circulate.
- Rooms/areas where short exposure occurred:
- Notify WFF to the extent possible of all other areas employee/visitor may have been in contact with. All touchpoints will be cleaned immediately.
- At the close of business hours, Facilities Engineer to begin purge of air associated with the AHU in all zones overnight to the extent possible.
- Areas can be opened after cleaning has occurred (expect at least 26 hrs. or more after notifications)
- Per CDC, if the spaces remain closed for (7) days, additional cleaning and disinfection is not necessary. Regular cleaning and disinfection resumes.
- If cleaning is required prior to the end of the 7-day period, enhanced cleaning is used where there was prolonged exposure to known positive or suspected positive cases. Enhanced cleaning may also be used at the discretion of the custodial manager based on individual circumstances. Enhanced cleaning includes a regiment that is designed to thoroughly address all surfaces in a space using multiple sanitizing products and application types as well as a written documentation of the steps followed.
Building Zones
Note: If possible, the units will be run with 100% outside air allowing all return air to be exhausted and not recirculated in the zone. This would allow for only the rooms where prolonged exposure to be impacted by the closure. If 100% outside air is not possible the entire zone would need to be close and occupants would need to leave.
