COVID-19 Update - March 17

As of March 17, there are no diagnosed cases of COVID-19 at Lake Michigan College.

The college will be open to the public this week through Thursday, March 19, with limited staff while we prepare employees to work remotely.

Lake Michigan College campuses will be closed to the public starting Friday, March 20, with a plan to re-open on April 13.

All face-to-face classes will continue in an online, distance learning format beginning on Monday, March 23. We understand that students face technology barriers and other challenges to studying at home, and professors are prepared to be flexible and accommodating. Students without a home computer may contact the advising department to request a laptop to borrow at no cost.

Services for students will remain available online during regular business hours, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m., Monday through Thursday. The majority of services for current and prospective students will remain available remotely. Please call or email specific departments.

The William Hessel Library is closed per the Governor’s executive order.

The Hawk’s Nest student activities area will be open through Thursday, March 19, noon-5 p.m. with a limit of no more than 10 students at a time. The Hawk’s Nest will be closed Friday, March 20 through April 12.

All student life activities and public events on campus, including all Mendel Center activities have been canceled through April 12. The May Commencement ceremony and Honors Convocation have been postponed until August. The Graduate Fair will be rescheduled in July. Dates and times will be shared as they are determined.
The National Junior College Athletic Association has canceled the spring sports season, which means Red Hawks Baseball and Softball will be canceled for the year. 

Due to the current state of COVID-19, the March 24 Board of Trustees meeting will be conducted remotely in the Todd Center Room 1301 beginning at 5 p.m. The meeting will be open to the public who are required to comply with social distancing of six feet.

Kidzone childcare centers are closed March 18 through April 12. Barnes and Noble bookstore services will be available on the web.
