Lake Michigan College now offers a major in Communication with new class options beginning in the summer and fall semesters.
The Communication major will center on enhancing skills students need to excel professionally in a variety of fields. According to a 2018 National Association of Colleges and Employers Job Outlook Survey, the ability to verbally communicate and the ability to create and edit written documents were among the Top 10 skills employers seek when hiring new graduates.
Communication students will learn these skills as well as collaboration, persuasion, critical thinking, creativity, conflict management, and intercultural communication competence.
Courses are designed to fit within the Michigan Transfer Agreement, which means credits easily transfer to a four-year institution.
