Jonathan Dely opens LMC's Mendel Center Mainstage season on Sept. 8

The Lake Michigan College Mendel Center opens its 2023-2024 Mainstage season at 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 8 when it presents Jonathan Dely: Live in Concert with his All-Star Jazz Band.

Performing one of jazz's most sought-after live concerts, Jonathan Dely leads his All-Star Band across the United States, from venues including Lincoln Center in New York to the NAMM Show in Los Angeles. Dely’s live show is as dynamic and energetic as it is cool and romantic. Expect a cross-genre performance that is sure to delight audiences of all ages and musical tastes.

Dely graduated with honors from Williams College. After declining a full-time investment banking position on Wall Street, Dely obtained his master’s degree on scholarship from the Manhattan School of Music and earned finalist honors in the National Trumpet Competition, the International Trumpet Guild Jazz Competition, and the Yamaha Young Performing Artist Competition. Today, he is widely recognized as a rising star jazz artist with many likening him to the next Chris Botti.

Dely’s career is the subject of the 2023 film “Goodbye Jonathan’s Soul,” directed by legendary filmmaker Bob Giraldi and featuring Jonathan as lead actor and composer. This short film will open the performance on the Mainstage.
