MCCAA recognizes LMC 56 student-athletes for individual academic excellence

Three Red Hawk sports also spotlighted for team academic success

 

BENTON HARBOR, Mich. - The Michigan Community College Athletic Association has announced its list of student-athletes who have achieved 2024-2025 academic honors. Among them are 56 Lake Michigan College student-athletes who have earned a 3.0 or better cumulative GPA during the past year including 45 Academic All-MCCAA recipients and 11 Academic All-Conference recipients.

Additionally, LMC Baseball, Softball, and Women’s Volleyball have been named MCCAA Academic Teams for 2024-2025. To achieve MCCAA Academic Team status, a MCCAA sponsored sport must record a 3.0 or above cumulative team GPA throughout the current academic year.

 

“We are proud of these Red Hawks who have set a high standard for themselves academically and athletically,” stated Melissa Grau, Dean of Student Life and Engagement. “Balancing practice and games along with carrying a full-time academic schedule is a challenge that requires discipline, focus, and strong time management skills. These are skills that they will take with them no matter where they go in life.”

Academic All-MCCAA recognition goes to student-athletes who earn a 3.20 or greater GPA and pass 24 credit hours during the academic year. Academic All-MCCAA recipients are:

About Lake Michigan College Athletics

Lake Michigan College is a member of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) and the Michigan Community College Athletic Association (MCCAA) and currently fields nine intercollegiate Red Hawk teams: men’s and women’s soccer, men’s and women’s cross country, women’s volleyball, men’s and women’s basketball, men’s baseball, and women’s softball. All sports are based on the College’s Benton Harbor campus.
