A Motown Christmas returns to the LMC Mendel Center in December
BENTON HARBOR, MICH. – The magic of Motown and the spirit of the holidays come together for one unforgettable show as A Motown Christmas returns to the Lake Michigan College Mendel Center Jenkins Theatre on Sunday, Dec. 21, at 3 p.m.
Backed by a powerhouse band and horn section, this holiday spectacular stars The Motortown All-Stars, a dazzling lineup of vocalists and musicians who’ve performed with legendary Motown acts including The Temptations, The Miracles, and The Contours. Together, they bring Motown’s timeless hits and Christmas favorites to life in a concert packed with stunning harmonies, smooth choreography, and all the style that made Detroit the soul capital of the world.
“These songs have stood the test of time and they’re still very much a part of today’s music scene, from commercials to movie soundtracks and TV shows,” says group founder and longtime musical director Glen Raby, formerly of The Contours. “Hearing it coming out of your TV or radio is always a joy, but hearing it performed live with that signature energy – it’s just electric.”
Fans can expect to sing along to classics like “My Girl,” “Ain’t Too Proud to Beg,” “Get Ready,” and more – along with holiday standards like “Santa Claus is Coming to Town” and “Silent Night,” all delivered in unmistakable Motown style.
“Every time we bring the Motortown All-Stars to the Mendel Center, the audience grows and grows," says Joseph Mirrione of Praia Entertainment Group, the show’s promoter. "We see two and three generations of families coming together and they all know these songs. We love that people who grew up on this music can share it with their kids and grandkids, and we keep ticket prices affordable so everyone can enjoy the music.”
Tickets for A Motown Christmas start at $39 and go on sale to the public beginning July 23 at 8 a.m. They can be purchased at www.TheMendelCenter.com.
Don’t miss your chance to celebrate the season with the music that moved the world.
