Lake Michigan College to dedicate the Liz and Lloyd Miller Family Field on Sept. 20

BENTON HARBOR, MICH. – Lake Michigan College invites the community to attend the naming dedication of the Liz and Lloyd Miller Family Field on Saturday, Sept. 20, at 11:45 a.m. on LMC’s Benton Harbor campus.

The ceremony will take place immediately before the softball doubleheader between the LMC Red Hawks and the Bethel University Pilots that starts at noon. RSVP for this event is not required.

The event will include a ribbon cutting and brief comments from the Miller family and College leaders. Following the ribbon cutting and dedication, attendees are welcome to attend the softball game or join the Miller family at the Welch Center for a reception from 12:45 to 5 p.m.

Liz Miller founded Lake Michigan College’s women’s athletics program as a three-sport coach in 1974. During her 17-year LMC career she also became the first female athletic director at LMC and fostered an environment where all student-athletes could thrive. Her husband, Lloyd, actively supported her work in a variety of volunteer roles during her tenure and served on the LMC Foundation Board of Directors for many years. Liz’s LMC career coincided with the raising of the Millers’ children, Jennifer and Jeremy, who spent much of their childhood on campus with their parents.

The new AstroTurf softball field is part of the renovated West Campus Athletic Complex that also includes new baseball and soccer AstroTurf fields.

The Benton Harbor campus is located at 2755 E. Napier Ave. The field is located on the west end of campus behind Beckwith Hall. Free parking is available in Lot 1 near the softball field.
