Lake Michigan College to host up to 50 colleges and universities at College Night event on Sept. 15
BENTON HARBOR, MICH. – Representatives from up to 50 colleges, universities, trade schools, and branches of the military will be on hand when Lake Michigan College hosts College Night at the LMC Mendel Center from 6-7:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 15. The LMC Mendel Center is located on the College’s Benton Harbor Campus at 1100 Yore Ave.
The free event is for high school students and their parents who are exploring the college selection process. Adults considering attending college and students planning to transfer are also encouraged to attend.
Students should register for a barcode before the fair at www.lakemichigancollege.edu/collegenight. During the fair, colleges will scan barcodes to send more information about their schools. The day after the fair, attendees will receive a report with information on the colleges with whom they scanned.
According to Eric Wignall, Lake Michigan College Director of Admissions & Recruitment, this event brings the entire higher education landscape together under one roof.
“Whether you’re looking at a major research university, a regional college, or a community college close to home, this is a chance to have real conversations with the people who know these schools best. Families can compare everything from academic programs and transfer pathways to scholarship opportunities, financial aid, and career outcomes,” Wignell said. “Instead of sorting through brochures or websites, you’ll get direct answers about what makes each institution unique, and which path might be the best fit for your goals.”
LMC staff will lead two financial aid information sessions at 6:30 and 7 p.m. Various financial aid options and tips for completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for the 2026-2027 academic year will be among the topics.
