1st Source Bank Foundation Donates $100,000 to Support New Athletics Field at Lake Michigan College
BENTON HARBOR, Mich. – Lake Michigan College (LMC) has received a generous $100,000 gift from 1st Source Bank Foundation to support the development of the College’s new athletics fields in the West Campus Athletics Complex, strengthening opportunities for student-athletes and enhancing campus facilities for the broader community.
The contribution reflects 1st Source Bank Foundation’s continued commitment to education, student success, and community investment throughout Southwest Michigan and Northern Indiana. The new athletics field will provide a modern, high-quality venue for LMC athletic programs while supporting recruitment, retention, and student engagement.
“1st Source Bank Foundation is a valued partner of Lake Michigan College, and this significant investment demonstrates their belief in our students and our vision for the future,” said Dr. Trevor Kubatzke, President of Lake Michigan College. “This gift will have a lasting impact on our student-athletes and the many community members who will benefit from this facility.”
The new athletics field is part of Lake Michigan College’s broader efforts to enhance student life, promote wellness, and provide spaces that foster teamwork, leadership, and school pride. In addition to serving LMC athletic teams, the field is expected to support campus events and community use.
“The development of Lake Michigan College’s West Campus Athletics Complex will be invaluable in supporting existing student-athletes, gaining new students, and broadening their educational base in the community,” said Shelli Workman, Michigan Region President at 1st Source Bank. “We are excited to see how the project develops in the coming months.”
The first games on the new fields were played this fall, with the LMC softball, baseball, and men’s soccer teams all winning their first games on their respective new fields.
