Lake Michigan College Names Dr. Kim Hodges Dean of Health Sciences
BENTON HARBOR, MI — Lake Michigan College (LMC) is pleased to announce that Dr. Kim Hodges, DNP, RN, NE-BC, NPD-BC, has joined the College as Dean of Health Sciences.
Hodges brings academic leadership, clinical practice, nursing professional development, and healthcare administration experience to LMC. She joins the College from Indiana University (IU), where she most recently served as Assistant Dean in the School of Nursing. Before that, she served as Clinical Assistant Professor in the IU Department of Community and Health Systems. Her career also includes more than two decades of clinical and healthcare leadership experience. That background gives her a strong understanding of the connection between health professions education and the workforce needs of healthcare organizations.
"We are excited to welcome Kim to Lake Michigan College and look forward to the leadership, experience, and perspective she will bring to our Health Sciences programs, faculty, staff, students, and healthcare partners," said Dr. Latoya Mason, LMC Provost.
Before moving into academia, Hodges spent a decade with Indiana University Health, where she served as Regional Director of Nursing Professional Development for the South Central Region and as Director of Nursing Professional Development and Innovation. She also led clinical operations at two of the system's Level One trauma centers, as Manager of Clinical Operations for the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at Riley Hospital for Children and as Clinical Manager of the Mother-Baby Unit at Indiana University Health Methodist Hospital. Her career began in 2002 as a registered nurse at Franciscan St. Francis Health, where she worked in postpartum, newborn nursery, and neonatal intensive care settings before becoming a Patient Care Coordinator.
Hodges holds a Doctor of Nursing Practice from Purdue University, a Master of Science in Nursing Administration from Indiana University Indianapolis, and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Indiana University Indianapolis. She is board certified as a Nurse Executive (NE-BC) and in Nursing Professional Development (NPD-BC) through the American Nurses Credentialing Center.
"I am honored to join Lake Michigan College and to lead a Health Sciences division that is so closely connected to the health of this region,” said Hodges. I look forward to working alongside our faculty, staff, and healthcare partners to prepare students for careers that help meet the workforce needs of our communities."
