Well-executed project management is key to meeting budgeted revenue and expenses, on-time deliverables, and the overall success of business operations.
People who can manage the process effectively are highly valued within organizations. The Project Management Accelerator can train you or your staff to meet the challenge. This 48-week program is ideal for manufacturing, construction, municipal public works, business operations, engineering, and any job or industry with complex projects and interdependent timelines.
How the Program Works
Accelerator participants receive training and real-world experience to build skills and put theory into action. Using an actual workplace project or a sample project provided by the instructor, each participant will work through the full project lifecycle: starting projects, building plans, managing execution, tracking performance, and closing successfully.
Learning happens in two connected tracks. Participants will build knowledge through weekly, two-hour live online sessions with the instructor and other accelerator participants. There are seven additional full-day in-person workshops throughout the 48 weeks, covering predictive and hybrid project management methods.
In-person, day-long sessions are currently scheduled for:
- Friday, Sept. 25, 2026
- Friday, Oct. 30, 2026
- Friday, Dec. 18, 2026
- Friday, Feb. 26, 2027
- Friday, April 30, 2027
- Thursday, June 24, 2027
- Friday, Aug. 27, 2027
Then, each week, participants will apply the classroom knowledge they’ve gained to their workplace or provided project. This reinforces the information learned and provides the participant with tangible examples of their new skills.
Credentials and skill validation
Upon successful completion of the program, each participant will receive a Certificate of Completion from Lake Michigan College. They will finish with a professional portfolio of project documents, including charters, schedules, budgets, risk registers, and performance reports, that demonstrates skills and abilities they have learned. The result is a measurable step forward in career growth, job productivity, and workplace leadership.
Funding options for employers
This course can be set up as a registered apprenticeship through the U.S. Department of Labor. That designation validates the program’s rigor, and it may open State funding opportunities that offset or cover training costs. LMC staff can help determine what your organization qualifies for.
