With the approval of the supervisor, an employee may participate in Lake Michigan College (College) governance and planning through membership in College committees, councils, taskforces, and/or work groups and in College volunteer opportunities occurring during regular College business hours (such as Lake Michigan College Foundation Scholarship Auction and Holiday Food Basket.) Employees will be paid for supervisor-approved participation in these activities.
With the approval of the supervisor, the College will also provide up to 4 hours of paid off-campus volunteer service leave for each fall and spring semester for 501(c)3 or non-profit organization (such as Habitat for Humanity and United Way), as long as no compensation is received from the other organization.
Off-campus volunteer service leave is not considered hours worked for purposes of calculating overtime.
