Hundreds sign virtual thank you card for local healthcare and other essential workers
As most of us shelter in place to protect ourselves and our families during the COVID-19 pandemic, essential workers in healthcare, public safety, childcare, food service and other industries continue to put their safety at risk in order to provide important services in our community.
Many of these individuals are Lake Michigan College students and alumni. To honor these individuals, LMC has launched a “Healthcare Heroes” campaign with a virtual thank you card and a video encouraging people to stay home, so workers can keep caring for us.
More than 200 people have signed the card with notes of thanks and words of encouragement.
“We’ve been training nurses and other professionals in our community for almost 75 years. Our faculty and staff keep in touch with thousands of graduates who we know are out there every day putting their education and skills to good use. We wanted to let them know we’re thinking of them. We're still supporting them,” said LMC President, Trevor Kubatzke.
