Gig economy worker

Gig Economy Program

Three one-credit, five-week courses that give you the essentials, fast. Take one on its own, or take all three back to back to complete the series in 15 weeks.

  • Foundational Gig Concepts
  • Branding & Client Acquisition
  • Gig Finance Essentials

Best for: Freelancers and side-giggers who want practical skills right now.

Courses offered in a flexible hybrid-online format, with weekly live Zoom sessions covering the topics that actually matter for independent work.

Foundational Gig Concepts (5 weeks)

  • Explore the foundations, evolution, and landscape of the Gig Economy. Students examine the benefits and challenges of independent work, identify common pitfalls that derail new gig workers, and discover essential skills and educational pathways needed to build a sustainable, successful gig career in today's dynamic marketplace.

Branding & Client Acquisition (5 weeks)

  • Develop a compelling personal brand and implement practical marketing strategies to launch your gig business. Learn to identify target clients, create effective marketing materials, leverage digital platforms, and build trust-based relationships that generate referrals and repeat business for long-term sustainability.

Gig Finance Essentials (5 weeks)

  • Create fundamental financial practices to launch and sustain your gig business. Cover essential bookkeeping, strategic pricing, professional invoicing, tax compliance, and business structure decisions. Learn to use basic tools like Excel for financial tracking and develop systems that support profitability and growth.

Your quick-start courses count toward the full certificate. Build on them with courses in small business management, marketing, sales or customer service, and an elective of your choice.

Best for: Anyone ready to treat independent work as a long-term career and earn a credential that shows it.
