Lake Michigan College Niles Campus is located on a 20-acre site in the Bertrand Crossing Business Park and is easily accessed by US Highways 12 and 31. The Niles Campus houses classrooms, faculty and administrative offices, bookstore, computer labs, fitness trails, lighted parking areas, and dental assisting lab.

Memory: Why do we forget and how do we remember? 
Saturday, March 24, 10 a.m. - noon 

How do we remember and why do we forget? By unlocking the mysteries of how minds learn and store information, attendees of this class will explore how memory is organized, and will discover tips and tricks for memory improvement. Participants will engage in fun and interactive mini-experiments based on research in cognitive psychology.

Presenter: Dr. Becki Van Cleave
Van Cleave has been teaching psychology for 30 years, and has been a psychology professor at LMC since 2011. She peppers her cognitive learning and memory lessons with hilarious tales from her research at the Great Smoky Mountains National Park Service studying visitors' knowledge and perception of wilderness environments.

Van Cleave holds a doctorate in experimental psychology from the University of Tennessee.

Google Drive 101: A basic introduction to working "in the cloud" 
Saturday, April 7, 10 -11 a.m.

Learn about the basics of Google Drive and its various components. Attendees will gain the knowledge and skills to create, edit, and share online versions of Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point documents using Google Drive to collaborate with others on the internet -- or, "in the cloud."  

Presenter: Nathan Swords
Nate Swords is a Lake Michigan College staff member and proud alum. He holds a Master’s degree from Western Michigan University and has completed coursework in a doctoral program at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Throughout his academic and professional career he has gained extensive expertise in data collection, organization and analysis through software and database training.

Coming Apart at the Seams: America in 1968
Saturday, April 14, 10 a.m. - Noon

Popular presenter, Timothy Moore, delivers an entertaining glimpse into the tragedies and triumphs that shaped America in 1968. From the Vietnam War, to Star Trek's famous first interracial kiss, attendees will explore the myriad of cultural and political events that shook up the American people during a year, which altered the course of history forever. 

Presenter: Timothy Moore
In addition to his role as professor at Lake Michigan College, popular presenter Timothy Moore regularly breathes new life into U.S. history for community audiences throughout southwest Michigan. His presentations have included "Quagmire: The U.S. in Vietnam," and "U.S. Presidents: The Great, Near-Great and Not-So-Great." 

Moore began teaching in 1997 after earning his graduate degree from Temple University. He has been with LMC since 2002. He holds an bachelor's degree from Eastern Michigan University.
